We raise money for our nature restoration project, Rewilding Bac Dubh, by offering our nature walks and workshops, and inviting donations.

Safaris

Our nature walks and workshops explore the wonderful diversity of nature in Wester Ross. From mystical temperate rainforests, magical creatures and seaweeds on the shoreline, colourful dragonflies and flora on the moorland, to iconic eagles, red squirrels, otters, red deer and abundant bird life, the more you look, the more you see!

Rewilding

Our ambitious nature restoration project at Bac Dubh, Poolewe, aims to restore 92 acres of peat bog and woodland to enhance biodiversity. We have an ultimate vision to provide an area of wild nature to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, with involvement from local schools, researchers and volunteers.

Pretending to be beavers

We've finally started our 'leaky dams' project at Bac Dubh! Generously supported by HIEF, we are creating leaky dams on the Cliff Burn to hold back the flow of water, helping to re-wet the peatland, create new habitat and increase biodiversity. We're excited to see where this journey takes us. But first, we had to get the materials onto site, and we were very grateful to Laide and Aultbea Community Woodland for supplying us with lodgepole pines to build the dams with. Last ni

A visitor from afar

This Painted Lady butterfly arrived at Bac Dubh this week. These delicate beauties make an incredible migration of up to 14,000 miles, travelling from Africa, the Middle East oo Asia. It's amazing to think something so fragile can survive such a long journey!

Signs of Spring

After many wet and cold weeks, we are finally seeing signs of Spring at Bac Dubh! The birds are singing and the frogs have been vey amorous - there is plenty of frogspawn in the boggy pools. A lovely, hopeful time of year.
