Leaky dams doing their job!

Thanks to our amazing team and volunteers, who were quickly christened the 'Bac Dubh Beavers', we were able to construct 30 dams on the Cliff Burn during the last week of July! The dams are already doing their job, reconnecting the burn with its floodplain. The dams don't impound water, but they hold back the flow after heavy rainfall so that the water is released slowly, helping to re-wet the surrounding peatland and creating habitat for more biodiversity. We look forward to seeing how the burn evolves over time.
